Can Grade II Tear/myxoid Degeneration In Posterior Horn Of Medial And Lateral Menisci Be Cured By Physiotherapy?
hlo sir. while playing football i twisted my knee in last december. but i neglected the injury. and continued after sm days. last month i had my MRI and report was- Grade-II tear/myxoid degeneration in posterior horn of medial and lateral menisci. do tl me whether this can be healed by physiotherapy.
I am sorry to disappoint you. ..meniscusinjury of this nature will never heal on its own.
On the contrary if you ignore it then there are high chances that the tear area will increase in size due to repeated pressure on it. If you get it operated early there are high chances that the surgeon might have to remove only a small area of meniscus. But if the tear extends......even the whole meniscus might have to be taken out.
Meniscii act as shock absorbers. ....and in your case leaving them untreated will result in early joint degeneration.
Kindly consult a good knee arthroscopic surgeon as Meniscii can be removed arthroscopically.
Good luck
