Can Fucidin Be Used On The Vaginal Or Anal Area And Also For Impetigo For An Infant?

Can Fucidin be uchsed on the vagina/anal area? I was prescribed some cream for my daughter (aged 23 months) some time ago for an angry red inflammation around her vagina/anal area, I THINK it was Fucidin. I have since run out of the cream that was prescribed. Very recently prescribed Fucidin for impetigo and I am sure it was this same cream that was given to her some months back to treat her nappy area.

She has the same problem arisen in the nappy area and is screaming in pain, I want to know that I am ok to use this cream on her. I am pretty certain it is the same but would like clarification for peace of mind. Thank you

Hi ! Good morning and Happy New Year. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.

Yes - you can apply fucidin in the nappy area of your child. However, usually nappy rashes are also associated with fungal infections. So I would advise you to see your doctor with your child for a physical examination, so that proper treatment could be initiated.

I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in further management of your problem. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of any further doubts.
Thanks for choosing health care magic to clear doubts on your health problems. Wishing you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
