Can Flucloxacillin Be Taken While On Birth Control Pills?

I have just started flucoxacillin today and just read the leaflet. It says that it effects the oral contraceptive pill. I had sex on Sunday morning and started my course Monday (today). Will this be ok or will this increase my chances of pregnancy or is it while you are taking it??

Flucloxacillin being an antibiotic can affect your gut flora and decrease the effectiveness of contraceptive pills to a smaller extent. Though contraceptive failure is a very rare phenomenon with such combinational use, additional method of contraception like using barriers are recommended during and 7 days after stopping antibiotics.
Its highly unlikely now that chances of pregnancy will increase as you have taken flucloxacillin one day later. I would recommend using additional contraceptive from Monday onwards. I hope the above information helps you. Thanks.
