Hi I have a 5 month old son. After I gave birth I got on depo. I got my period a week or so after I got the shot and now I have been on it for about 3 months now. I m due to go back for another shot. Is it depo that is making me bleed this long? Please help, it s kind of scary and very annoying! Should I switch birth control?

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
Your complaints of irregular and continuous bleeding while on depo shot is due to its side effect. Generally it happens in the first few shots and would regularize by the next couple of cycles.
But in case it is bothering you much, it would be advisable for you to go for other forms of birth control pills.
Kindly consult Gynecologist in this regard for proper evaluation and advise.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
