Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had two or three shots of vodka a few hours (4 or 5) ago, but now I m sobered up and have a sore throats and stuffy nose. Are DayQuil pills okay to take, or should I wait out the night before taking anything, to avoid any issues with the alcohol and DayQuil?
Dayquil (Acetaminophen/Pseudoephedrine/Dextromethorphan) is an analgesic, decongestant, and cough suppressant combination commonly prescribed for the symptomatic relief of fever, cold and dry cough respectively.
If taken after consuming alcohol or alcohol containing beverages like Vodka, Dayquill can cause serious side effect which may result in liver injury or toxicity.
Avoid taking it tonight, instead you may take steam inhalation and lukewarm saline water gargling for the symptomatic relief from stuffy nose and sore throat respectively.
Hope this will help.
