Can Concor 5mg Be Taken Instead Of Norvasc To Control High BP?

Hi, I am 51 years old..for the last 3-4 months i was having high blood pressure 140/95 and some time 145/100. Doctor advised me Norvasc 5 mg. I been using it for one month and then discontinued taking it as i having better blood pressure 130-40/85-90. Last week i again had high blood pressure 150/100-10 with high pulse 90-98 with irregular heart beats some time. This time doctor advised me Concor 5 mg. Is it ok taking Concor 5 mg instead of Norvasc?

Hello,

you haven't mentioned your medical history, so I can't say if there are specific reasons to prefer one drug or another. If no other reason applies for you, then any drug with antihypertensive potency should do.
If you've had irregular beats then an electrocardiogram is warranted. Concor would reduce your heart rate and blood pressure while norvasc would reduce your blood pressure and increase your heart rate.

So it's OK to take concor instead of norvasc but you're going to need a careful assessment for arrhythmias.

I hope I've helped!

Kind Regards!
