Can Clindamycin Be Taken When Allergic To Penicillin?

Season's greetings. I just got this medication for my son and I don't feel comfortable with the warning and much less with the side effects within it. What guaranty do we have that this medication wouldn't cause him some kind of bad illness? Y couldn't he just get a more simple antibiotic to cure his face and gum infection? My son is allergic to penicillin. Does this contain penicillin? Honestly, I don't trust clindamycin it is the first time that I ever heard of such. Can you please be more specific as to what kind of antibiotic is this.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain Clindamycin is a potent antibiotic belonging to Lincosamide group of antibiotics and is not a Penicillin..
You can very well give it to your son for treating dental infections..
It is not necessary that it will also cause side effects to your son and you can very well give to him without the fear as Clindamycin has no Penicillin in it..

In case if there is any side effect seen after giving it, which is although not necessary you can stop giving it to him and can immediately consult your treating dentist or emergency room..
