Can Clarinex Help Cure Food Allergy?

I am a school nurse. I have a child with egg, tree nuts and dates. The doctor has prescribed Clarinex elixir to be given in case of allergic reaction. I believe I really need Benadryl or an epi pen, which I have told mom. Clarinex would not help in this situation would it?

As per your complain Clarinex contains Desloratidine and it is a antihistamine and is potent enough to fight an allergic reaction..
In case if you are advised to take Desloratidine it is an appropriate medication to reduce the allergy symptoms and you can very well continue taking it..

The other thing that I would like to advise you is to consult an Allergist and get evaluated so that he can do proper allergic testing and confirm the exact causes of allergic reaction and once the cause is confirmed he can advise you to get Immunotherapy done so that the severity and frequency of allergic reaction is subsided..
