Can Cetirizine Hydrochloride And Hydroxyzine Cause Side Effects In Children?
Hi My son is suffering from an allergy and the doctor described a cetirizine hcl 1mg/1ml sol once a day Hydroxyzine 10 mg/5 ml syrup 2 to 3 times a day for itching. I just want to know how safe are those medicines and what s the side effects on my child.thanks

For any allergic diseases the prescribed medications are what is used most widely.
They both are of group called as antihistaminics which cause reduction in histamine causing reduction in allergic symptoms.
Mostly these drugs are safe to be used.
Only side effects of these is sedation so the patient complaints of excessive sleep and drowsiness.
That is why they are to be used till the symptoms persists. Once symtpoms go off, you can stop these medications.
