Recently my urine was tested with a dipstick and then sent for urinalysis twice. My doctor said that there was a plus 1 red blood cell in my urine. The first test was done during my period therefore she asked to repeat it. The second test was done 3 days before my next period. I am 33 and I had a cesearean section 10 months ago. Could the surgery have cause damage? How worried should I be about these results?

Hello,
During menstruation, presence of red blood cells in urine is a common finding. Caesarean section had no connection with blood in urine.
Blood in urine, usually occurs when there is any stone in the kidney, ureter or bladder and any kidney disorders. In the query, you did not mention about the urine analysis report that which was repeated 2nd time.
Don't worry about those results, those are normal.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Siddartha
