Hi,

Yes, buprenorphine with naloxone (Suboxone) is useful for getting over an addiction to any narcotic.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

I have been taken Amitriptyline about 4 or 5 years! My doctor (gastro) said that it also will help with my IBS. I had very bad symtons with my IBS due to a horrific relationship I was in!! This doctor gave me lots of tests before he told me it was IBS! I thought I had cancer; I was 89 lbs. when I had my first appointment with him, and because of him, I started to feel normal......because he prescribed Amitriptyline-10 mg! But, 3 yrs. later there was a crisis in my family........my daughter-in-law, at 50 yrs. old, had a master stroke and the doctors said she wouldnt ever come back! At that time my son had no family near him because they live in Florida......so I went to Florida and we stayed in a hotel for more than a month. The stress was killing me when I looked at my son..............and by God s will, she started to talk, not the way she did but we could understand what she was trying to say! She has no movement on her right side of her body. I have been going back to Florida every year to help out and give my son a break!! t Thus my nerves are at peak and My IBS is worse!!! at that time, I was taking half of the tablet, then went back to the 10mg! Now, my sister went to her doctor and told her my story............the dr. (gyno) said tell your sister to stop it causes Alzheimers........so, weaned my self off ,BUT IBS came back!! Spoke to my doctor and he told me to continue..................I m getting to my point now: for the last 2yrs. I ve been forgetting things and losing my vocabulary; also, when I am just about to open my eyes in the morning I see things that are not there!!! This morning I actually saw numbers and symbols on the ceiling!! I want to get off the meds but I m afraid my IBS will erupt!! Can you help? Thank you, Rosalie Capuano

I have Ibs but also have daily diarrhea (never a normal bowel movement) first thing in am after awaking and after anything I eat. Is this likely Cdiif. had laproscopic right inguinal hernia operation about a year ago and it seems to be happening since then or that may be just coincodence. should I be tested for cdiff. also powdered mtamucil seems to form stool and help a little if taken 2 times a day.

Hello Doctor. I am writing not because of myself, but because of my sister who I am really worried about. She was involved in a car accident in January of 2010 and has had 3 back surgeries due to this. She has been taking oxycodone and or vicodin every since. She just found out she is pregnant. She doesn t know what to do. She is extremely happy but worried about the pain pills. She wants to try to taper off of them, but I read that could be dangerous for the fetus. Do you recommend her getting on suboxone which I read can be dangerous as well or subutex which I ve read can be safe. We definitely don t want to go the methadone route for obvious reasons. Any help and suggestions will be greatly appreciated. She is 37 years old and is worried about her age as well. Thank you Doctor and look forward to hearing from you. David

My doc is prescribing Elavil for pain I am experiencing in the vulva area. I am wondering if that works for pain such as this? Wasn t sure why an anti depressant was being used? I am currently on Oxycodone for the pain, which works, but I do not want to stay on this drug any longer than necessary.

I am now home again and have blood in my stool. Could this be related to the LP?
