Can Bisoprolol Fumarate Be Taken To Control Heart Palpitations?

I HAD 2 HEART ABALATIONS IN 2010 AND EVERYTHING HAS BEEN OK UNTIL ABOUT 2 HOURS AGO AND MY HEART IS RACING ON AVERAGE OF 130 BEATS PER MINUTE BY MY BLOOD PRESSURE MACHINE. MY WIFE HAS BISOPROLOL FUMARATE 5MG, CAN I TAKE ONE TO SLOW IT DOWN? I HAVE TAKEN AN ASPERIN AND MULTI VITAMIN ABOUT 2 HOURS AGO . I FINISHED A STERIOD REGIMENT YESTERDAY. NO OTHER DRUGS . THE STEROIDS WERE FOR AN EAR INFECTION.

Hi,

Yes, Bisoprolol is a drug which can reduce heart rate. you can start with 2.5 mg to be safe and then increase to 5 mg if you need. But, If i were you, I would definitely visit a cardiologist for review. You said, you were on steroids for ear infection. Just for your information infection and fever itself can raise your heart rate.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Samuel
