Can Betanoid Be Given To A Toddler?

My 2 year old son seems to have an allergy for milk. He had a runny nose for about 2 weeks now which has now cleared up but last night he started coughing badly when he had to go to bed. It went on four hours. I gave him cough medicine but it did not seem to work. He does not have a fever. I want to know if I can give him Betanoid?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I understand your concerns concern. I would avoid using Betanoid to your child as it is too strong for a child.
I recommend you continue giving your child cough syrup. If it still doesn't work, then a milder steroid such as Prelone is safer.
However, of the bad cough continues for more than three days without relief I recommend to have your child seen by a pediatrician.

I hope this helps
All the best
