Can Bactrim Be Taken For UTI And Clindamycin For An Abscess In The Mouth Without Any Adverse Effects?

I was on clindamycin for an abysyss in my mouth and became highly allergic resulting in cdiff collitis and then a UTI. I now have another UTI and Bactrim has been prescribed for the bacteria that the culture showed. Do you know if I could have the same results from taking the clindamycin ? Thank you

Hi,

If you are already taking Clindamycin which is a broad spectrum antibiotic and can cure UTI (unless the culture result has stated that the infection in urine will not be effective by Clindamycin). Only thing is to get Lactobacillus supplement while the treatment to avoid its depletion. I would suggest to clear this point with the doctor treating your UTI.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
