Can Azithromycin Be Taken For Tooth Sensitivity?

I am sensitive to most medicines. My dentist has prescribed Azithromycin tabs for a tooth that needs to be pulled the tabs are to be taken one hour before my visit. The two tabs, 250 mg each will total 500 mg to take and he prescribed this med because I have a pacemaker and am allergic to penicillin. Do you see any problems with taking this?

Hi..
Welcome to HCM..

As per your complain I have noted your history of having allergy to Penicillin along with having a pacemaker and having a decayed tooth that needs to be pulled for which you are given Azithromycin..

Well, if you have a tooth decay that needs extraction, the best way is to get it pulled only after antibiotic cover..

As Penicillin and Azithromycin both belong to different groups of antibiotics, therefore if you are allergic to penicillin then you can very well take azithromycin under supervision of your dentist.

If after taking the antibiotic you find any abnormal signs and symptoms immediately consult an Emergency room or your treating dentist..

Hope this information helps..

Regards..
