I have a bad ear infection. My doctor has drained the ear and put me on Augmentin. After talking it twice the infections seems to have become alot worse. I am due to see my ent dr on thursday so he wants to get the swelling down so he can see in my ear. He has now told me to take cifran and ear drops as well as augmentin. I am concerned this is too much and Cifran sounds like a strong drug, what do you think
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain Cifran contains Ciprofloxcin belonging to Fluoroquinolones and is a suitable drug to treat ear infection.. You need not to worry as it is not any strong medication and is appropriate to be taken.. Even if Augmentin is not working for you, you can stop taking Augmentin and can simply take Cifran along with anti inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen.. You can also take nasal decongestant like Xylometazoline.. You should avoid excessive water exposure to the ears like swimming and diving as it causes ear infection.. Avoid picking the ears.. You can also avoid exposure to loud sound as it can injure the eardrum..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
