Can Aspirin Or Warfarin Be Taken As An Alternative To Clexane?
I have Factor v Leiden in my family and currently take 75mg of aspirin daily. I m having foot surgery at the end of February and last time was given clexane which really thinned my blood too much. Can I take either a double dosage of aspirin or warfarin as an alternative?
Yes, you can use warfarin with aspirin but with low molecular weight heparin there's is less bleeding and no need to be monitored frequently.
But with warfarin, you need monitoring (PT/INR) frequently and its half-life is more even after starting bleeding it is difficult to manage.
You may need FFP transfusion or vitamin k injection. But in the case of low molecular weight heparin half-life (8-12hrs) easy to recover from bleeding tendency.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
