Can Aspartame Usage During Pregnancy Cause Any Birth Defects?

I stayed away from aspartame for first and second trimester but started drinking it again in late 2second trimester and continued throughout third trimester. I only have maybe 3-4 diet drinks a week, otherwise I m drinking water, sometimes I just need the caffine boost and I can t stand regular soda drinks. Is there still a risk of birth defects?

hi,according to FDA aspartame is one of the artificial sweeteners which is safe in pregnancy,when had in moderation.and you are having just 3-4 drinks a week which is well within limits.so there is nothing to worry for you.you are at no increased risk for any kind of birth defects.
