Can Antibiotics Affect Implanon Function?

A month ago I took an antibiotic for an infection. (i have had implanon for 2 years with no cycle) the second day of antibiotics I had light bleeding/spotting. Since completing antibiotic I have had one (3 day long) spotting. But have had naseau heartburn anxiety body aches and more body gas and slight burning of the implanon in my arm. Thud is first time this has happened on N.Y. implanon. Is it possible the antibiotic interupted my implanon and than I could be pregnant again?

Hi

Brief answer:
No, antibiotics cannot affect implanon function.

Detailed answer:
I had gone through the question and understand your concern.
See , antibiotics do not affect implanon and the slight burning in the arm is because of something else.

However , nausea , heartburn , gas seems to be the side effect of antibiotic as antibiotics have tendency to cause stomach upset as its side effect.
For that you can take capsule omeprazole (one capsule daily) early morning empty stomach.

Hope this information helps.
Wish you good health.

Regards
Dr. Gulshan
