Hi doctor, my name is joan. Is it possible to take althea pills even if I haven t still my period for the month? I m expecting to have my period on 20th. It is said on the directions of althea pills that you can start taking it at the first day of menstruation but it also said that you can take it any day.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Normally this and other oral contraception are started on the first day of the period.

This is mainly done to make sure that the pills are not used in a person who is pregnant.
If you are sure you are not pregnant then you can start them. If you are not sure then it would be best to do a pregnancy test first to make sure that you have not conceived.

I hope this helps
