General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi Rekha Guptaji,
Thanks for writing in HCM.
Coffee contains 'caffeine', which is a central nervous system (CNS) stimulant, it is psychoactive compound and hence deprives sleep and helps to keep you awake.
Alprax contains 'alprazolam', which is a short-acting anxiolytic and sedative drug.
If this drug is taken with coffee, it might not act properly and bring about the desired effect as caffeine in coffee has an opposite effect.
It would be better advisable to take it in plain water or plain milk and completely avoid taking it with any of the beverages.
Hope the information provided is clear.
All the best.
