Can Albuterol Sulfate Be Given To A Toddler For Recurring Wheezing?
My son is 1.8 years old, he regularly (once in a month ) suffers from wheezing problem. He started having this problem when he was 6 months old. It starts with sneezing then running nose, then his chest gets blocked. Then wheezing starts. Can we give albuterol sulfate 2.5 mg to him.
If the medication has been prescribed for him then it can be used.
If it has not been prescribed for him and his wheezing has not been documented by a doctor then it would be best for him to be assessed.
Using an inhaler would actually be the best thing for his wheezing because the medication is going straight to his lungs and it does not have to go through is blood stream like the albuterol syrup.
I hope this helps
