Burning Red Patch On The Upper Arm, Red Line Radiating To Upper Part, No Relief With Topical Creams. Cause And Remedy?

I have a burning red patch about 2 inches in diameter on the inside of my upper arm . it has a red line radiating up toward the outer part. I don t see an insect entry point but it is very itchy like an insect bite. We don t have poisonous spiders here so I can rule that out. I ve had it for four days with no relief from topical creams.

Hey there kre8v. Going by your history, it is more likely to be either an insect bite reaction or an inflammatory fungal reaction with marginated borders. Cutaneous larva migrans also is a possibility depending on your histroy. For the moment, if topicals (assuming steroids/antifungal combo's) are not working, please add a systemic antihistamine. Seeing your local dermatologist does however seem to be the order of the day. It may require intervention eg cryotherapy & is best recomended by physician visualising. Either way, it is not cause for undue concern & will get better..chin up..cheers! Dr Praveen Rodrigues MD Dermatologist & Cosmetologist
