Burning, Itching Vagina. Greenish Discharge.

I am 32, Female, have had 4 children, a tubal ligation , and am on depo provera for heavy bleeding/endometreosis issues. I am in a monogomus relationship and do not use any other form of protection. Yesterday, I began having some burning and itching along with some light greenish/yellow discharge from my vagina . Internally, there was some cottage cheese type discharge; not much at all. My cervix is sore and extremely elongated, I usually can not feel it at all. I have not had intercourse for about 9 days. Today, my symptoms have lessened quite a bit; though the only change I have made is wearing full bottomed cotton panties (as opposed to g-string with a liner).

hello and welcome,

It seems that you have an infection. They may occur despite a monogamous relationship as other routes than sexual can cause these infections. Use of tampons, not changing the liner twice daily or even the undergarments can harbour the bacteria. Also sometimes conditions like diabetes predispose to infection. Trauma caused by friction during sex also causes such infections.

It is best to get a vaginal swab tested to determine the offending organism after evaluation by a doctor.

Drugs like mixed vaginal tablets containing a antifungal, antibacterial and antiparasitic drug are very helpful in providing relief.
if you cannot get a prescription soon you may use monistat as the description of the discharge indicates a fungal infection.

Other measures include avoiding sex till it heals, keep the area clan and dry, clean undergarments daily with hot water and use vaginal pads instead of tampons.
Hope this satisfies your query.
