Broke Ribs. Pain And Affected With Severe Cold. Pain In Spine. Anti Tussive?

I broke ribs 8 and 9 3 weeks ago in a bad fall, and still have a lot of pain and now a severe cold which makes me cough a lot...but am getting flem up; what should I do!!!! do i take an anti tussive?? do i take codeine??? it really hurts when I cough and they told me it may take 6 weeks for my ribs to heal...help!!!
I am 67 and have multiple pain issues with my spine.....neck and shoulder...

Hi
You should take medications for cough otherwise the pain may get worse. Do you have cough with productive sputum?If not with sputum then you can take central cough suppressors like codeine containing syrups.
