Broke Fabula, Tibia Fracture. Had A Cast. Will I Heal?

I BROKE MY FABULA AT 2 PLACES WHICH NOW DOCTORS SAY HAS HEALED , BUT DISTAL 1/3RD TIBIA FRACTURE IS HEALING SLOWLY. IT HAPPENED IN A ROAD ACCIDENT ON 21ST DEPT,2011. THIS JANUARY DOCTORS EXAMINED ME AND ASKED ME TO REMAIN WITHOUT CAST FOR 3 DAYS . I DID THE SAME AND ON FORTH DAY ANEW CAST WAS APPLIED WITH ADVICE THAT THERE ARE GOOD CHANCES ON UNION IN FEW MONTHS. DURING THE 3 DAYS WITHOUT CAST , I DID NOT HAVE MUCH DIFFICULTY IN WALKING. I WANT TO KNOW WHAT DO YOU FORESEE IN COMPLETE RECOVERY/HEALING OF MY INJURY. RAKESH SHARMA

Welcome to HealthCare Magic
Hope you are doing good. As you have mentioned that your fabula has healed and now doctor are focusing on your Tibia. Well usually fractures take quite long time to heal and depends on the severity of the fracture.
But as you have mentioned that you walked with out cast and did not had any problem in walking. So it mean that you have miner fracture.

As your Orthopedic surgeon applied the cast again because they could have better idea about the fracture which they could have analyzed from the x-ray and they want to give it some extra time for re-union of the tibial bone. A better idea of Bone fracture re-union can be analyzed from the x-ray. But in your case there are nothing to be worried.

I hope have answered your query, feel free to ask if you have any query. wish you good health. Regards
