Bowel Obstruction, Hernia Surgeries Done. 16 Inches Of Intestine Removed. Lump On The Abdomen. Any Suggestion?

Hi there. I had emergency surgery in 2010 for a bowel obstruction and had 16 inches of intestine removed. After that surgery, I was left with a lump on my abdomen that sticks out. THe surgeon told me that it is where my bowel was sewed back together. I had surgery in 2012 for a hernia repair and bowel obstruction, but that time, I did not have to have any more intestine removed. In the area where the lump is....it has been sore and tender to the touch for the last 24 hours hours, but I feel fine. Any idea what could be causing the soreness?
Thanks!

Hello,

This is sign of inflammation at the site of surgery.
There is a possibility of underlying infection.
The inflammation and infection may be caused by intestinal obstruction.
It is better to get a reevaluation with the surgeon.
A baseline ultrasound of the abdomen may be needed.
