Both Shoulders Replaced, Socket Part Is Worn Out Causing Pain. Advised Bone Graft. Required ?
yes, I have had both shoulders replaced, the right one is a partial, I found out that the socket part of my bone is worn down by about 1/4" all the way around . it is causing me more pain now than before I had the surgery. I was told that would have to have a bone graft done before it could be completely replaced. I have not found it easy to find a Dr. that does the surgery or one that I can ask questions and I don't want to do anything that would cause me more pain. Can you possibly help me. My email address is YYYY@YYYY . Thank you for your time
Hemiarthroplasty of the shoulder will result in erosions in the glenoid cavity (socket of the shoulder) over a period of time leading to pain during movements involving the shoulder.
An xray of the shoulder in different views will show up the amount of eroded glenoid cavity.
I suggest you to consult an orthopedic surgeon for further management.
Hope this information is helpful. Good day
