Borderline Depression, Have Mood Swings, Suicidal Thoughts, Not Stressed. On Different Contraceptives. What Is The Cause?
I can sometimes be what I describe as boarder line depression and have been since my son was born 10 years ago. I have been on many different contraceptives from injection, coil, implant and pill and can't seem to find one that suits me. I normally start off ok on which I try then after 1 to 2 years the mood swings are back and can sometimes be quite bad, ranging from starting arguments with my partner for no reason to thinking about cutting myself. I would never act on the thoughts but they do scare me that I can think these things. I am not under any stress so I am left thinking that it is something to do with my contraception. Can you suggest what would be the best form for me to be on?
Hi there, thanks for asking. It could be related to your contraception. A good way to see if it is really related to the medication is that you use another way of prevention for some months. It could also be related to post pregnancydepression. Many people who find depression after pregnancy may also find bipolar depression. It is accompanied with self harm as well. You should ask your doctor to see if you have this issue. Best wishes.
