Body Pain, Diagnosed As Insufficient Vitamin D. What Types Of Supplements Should Be Taken?

Hi,
I recently got Vitamin D Tested and its 32 the reference says its insuficient.
The Reason i went for the tests was the recommendation of my doctor to whom i complained about body pains after and during the exercises.
Please suggest if i should take supplements and some commonly available names .
Please also go through the medical history i have written and the lab reports for better picture.

Thanks
Sachin

Hi Sachin,

Thank you for your query.

Unfortunately I do not see your medical history or lab reports in the query that you have raised. If you have vitamin D deficiency according to the reports you can have cholecalciferol, the active ingredient as sachet once every week for 6 weeks.

I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.

Wishing you all the best.

General & Family Physician Dr. Nehal Mehta's  Response
hi,
thank you for using health care magic,
normal level of 25hydroxy vitamin D is 30 to 70 ng/ml.. it can vary little from region to region according to person's life style and exposure to sun.
from your report it seems that you are on lower limit of vitaminD.. the reason you had body pain after and during exercise is vitamin D helps in absorption of calcium and since your vitamin D level are low calcium absorption must have decreased and for function of muscle calcium is very important..
you can go for oral tablet of vitamin D .. SHELCAL-M can be good choice.. take one tablet per week.. it has vitamin D and calcium.. take it on a fix day of week..
beside medicine you can modifiy your diet.. take more milk, eeg, fish , cereals etc.. if possible take morning sunlight bath for 15 to 20 minutes..
hope this helped you..
