Blood Tests Shows High GammaGT. Am Diabetic And On Glucophage. Am Active. Had Hepatitis. Would This Be A Factor?

Hi Doctor, I have very recently had blood tests done, was told that my GammaGT is at 320, normal is around 60. I am a type 2 diabetic and take Glucophage 1000.i am also on blood pressure tablets " Ravamil". I do enjoy an occasional beer, no more than 3 per week. I am active I play squash twice a week and I play golf. I have had hepatitis many heard ago about 30 years back. Would this be a factor? Look forward to your responce.
Many thanks

Hi
Thanks for choosing HCM
Diabetes , alcohol and liver disease can cause high levels of GGT. Hepatitis 30 years back is not a cause for this now. Have a vegan diet with low fat and stop alcohol for a period of three weeks. You can also start taking udiliv once daily. Then repeat GGT if its still high then you will need complete evaluation
Hope this helps you
take care

Internal Medicine Specialist Dr. Akhilesh Dubey's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic,
Your Gamma GT is high this liver enzyme is specific for liver injury due to alcohol, so you must stop using alcohol.
Please also take care of your blood sugar level with diabetic diet and take your treatment regularly.
I presume your blood pressure is also well controlled with the drug(RAVAMIL).
I do not thing past history of hepatitis is the cause of present abnormality.
Take healthy and balanced diet, and continue exercise regularly.
Please consult a Physician/Gastroenterologist for proper prescription treatment and repeat the liver function after 1 month.
Take care.
Good Luck.
Dr.Akhilesh Dubey M.D.
