I get dizzy sometimes and almost pass out. I had a doctors appointment and I was already feeling dizzy when i went in for my appointment. My doctor checked my blood preassure and it was 150/90 which is really high for me usually i run about 130/70. My bp went down a few minutes later but my doctor said that she wouldn t put me on blood preasure med s until I have another abnormal bp reading. Today I got really dizzy and called 911 when they came out they checked my bp and the original reading was 159/96 and then i wasn t dizzy anymore and they checked my bp again and it was normal. This happens to me a couple times a week, I m wondering if you knew why my bp would spike like this? Sometimes my heart will beat really fast and i get really hot.
You have not mentioned your age,if you are above 40,apart from blood pressure you require few more investigations.
You go for ECG,blood sugar and lipid profile.
To decide high blood pressure one or two times checking of bp is not enough. After the record of bp for about 10-15 days is necessary then and then we can conclude that you high bp or not.
There is variation of bp taking in the morning and in the evening.

i have been on ace & cal chain blocker for years with stable BP s at around 136/60..... over the last 3 or so years I have had 3 episodes of sudden BP spikes..170/90 to one episode of 220/110 when I went to the ER feeling nauseous, foggy brain & could feel heart beating! 168/80 by the time I wasseen. It has reverted to my normal within a few hours each time. I check BP 1-2 times per week. At recent CPE, 170/90... have been watching BP s at MD request.....my norms now are 150/60-70 most of time but go as low as 118/60 midday so I hesitate to add another med which is being considered...I had another spike the other day to 180/90 With resolution in about 4 hrs. In researching, I find some info indicating a possible link of these intermittent spikes with the incidence of chronic Lyme disease.....do you have any comment re this?

I ve suffered from unexplained dizziness episodes for 7 yrs now and just discovered if I turn my head slightly to the right, it makes it go away. Have had many tests done including MRI & MRA of brain and a spinal tap. The MRI showed ovoid plaques in/on left and right frontal lobes but spinal tap did not show anything. Was just wondering if the dizziness is related to these ovoid plaques or possibly my torticollis?
My husband has been experiencing vertigo for the last week, he had had it in the past, but not for the last 5 years or more. This morning he woke up at 4am feeling dizzy and sweating. We took his temp and it was 96.5. Then he started throwing up. His temp came back up a little, but he is still dizzy. Should I take him to the emergency room?
Hello, about 13 days ago I drank alot of alcochol and I have been dizzy with a slight headache since then. I have been to the doctor he said it is probably liver intoxication, that it will go away, that was a week ago. I did a bunch of blood tests everything seems normal accept my hep B anti hps was 93. This happened about 2 months ago as well, the doc gave me, b6 dramin (portuguese), which I took for a week and the dizzyness went away. Any clue what it could be? Is this normal because of alcohol consumption? I have drank alot in the past years, never had this happen before.
