Blood Oozed Out And Bump Found While Injecting, On B12 Injections, Injected To Deltoid And It Hurt. Has It Gone To The Veins?

I've been giving myself B12 injections for 6 weeks now, today I gave myself the 7th injection in my deltoid and it hurt a little more than usual, but when I aspirated nothing came out. I went ahead and injected but after I pulled the needle out a lot of blood came out, maybe nickel size. And then there was a bump at the injection site. Should I be concerned that I injected into the vein? Or could I have possibly just went through it, and should I worry in that case?

Hi and thank you so much for this query.

From the information you have provided, there is no reason to get worried. Because you aspirated and got nothing in the needle before injecting, i am confident you didn't inject into a vein. Besides, complications resulting from mistakenly administering a drug into a vein are immediate and if there were any reasons to get concerned, you should have already know by now.

I am of the opinion that you went pass a blood vessel that oozed out upon removing the needle and bleed into the tissues. That explains the bleeding and hematoma. It should slowly get reabsorbed over the coming day. There is no reason to worry for now.

I wish you well and thanks for using our services. Feel free to ask for more information if need be.
