Blood In Stools, Headache, Fatigue. Taking Iron For Anemia. Worried

I've been seeing blood when I pass a bowel movement and I've also had headaches, aches, and fatigue. I feel hungry at times, but do not want to eat, and I also often feel like I have to pass a bm, but don't. This has been happening on and off for about a month, but has been very consistent this last week. I am 34, overall good health, about 5'2", 105 lbs and I am anemic, but take Iron. I have an appointment with my doctor for the first week in May. Should I be worried and move the appointment up?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

You definitely should see your doctor sooner. Blood in stool, fatigue, lack of appetite, anemia can indicate some blood loss to the digestive tract. It can be stomach disease, inflammatory bowels disease, large intestine polyps or even colon cancer.
Anemia is not a disease itself, usually it is a symptom of other disease. And it is important to find out what is causing it.
That is why you should have upper GI endoscopy and colonoscopy performed at first. Smear blood test should be done and hematologist consult. Also gynecologist should perform transvaginal ultrasound.

Hope this will help.
Regards.

Hi friend,
Welcome to Health Care Magic

What is the colour of the blood?
If it is red, it is from below - haemorrhoids, colon...
If it is green or black, it is bleeding from above - stomach, small intestine / Iron also does this...
See a gastro-enterologist / get yourself investigated...

Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck
