Blood Drawn, Accidentally Ripped Needle, Searing Pain. Is It Normal?
I just had my blood drawn and she accidentally ripped the first needle out before collecting the blood. She repeated and collected the blood but now my arm hurts. There is searing pain where they drew the blood still an hour after ... Is this normal? I have 3 children, so I am used to having my blood drawn but nothing like this has ever happened?
Hello,
Yes, shearing type of pain can occur with repeated passage of needle. There is nothing abnormal in that and the pain would usually subside within a day or two although some tenderness may remain thereafter for a few days. There is no need to be anxious regarding this.
