Blister On Toe, Swelling, Painful. Taking Antibiotics. How Long Before Improvement?

My husband had a medium sized place or blister type growth on his big toe and had it removed on a Friday and the following day his foot was swollen and very painful...After several days with no improvement he was hospitalized for treatment ...Other than antiobiotics, an orthopedic surgeon placed a drain tube in his foot for 3 days..we were home for several days with no improvement and then went to see an infectious disease specialist and he was hospitalized. A needle was inserted into the foot but there was no drainage. We now are home with a pick line and administering the antiobiotic daily...There is still swelling in the foot..How long should it be before we see an improvement.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi,

Your husband is having bullae with erythematous and oedematous lesions on foot.

I think, it may be cellulitis.

The infection is recovered by antibiotic therapy, but swelling is there..right?

Keep the foot elevated for about 12 hours in a day.

And take low salt diet.

He must be investigated to rule out DM,HIV,anaemia, other internal diseases..etc

He should avoid alcohol, tobbaco and smoking ,if they are there.

Improve his immunity with immunobusters and healthy diet.

I think, he might get good response and improve his health.

I hope you got my answer.

If there is query still, you may contact me directly on the floor of H C M..Ok

Thanks.
