Bleeding during sex, going through menopause. Cause?

About 2 weeks ago, during sex I started bleeding . Then 2 days later, during sex again, I started bleeding again. Both times I put a tampon in and the bleeding had stopped shortly after sex. There was very little blood on the tampon. I am 47 years old, have 5 children, don t believe I am going through menopause as I have no other symptoms and have had a fairly active sex life. Also, I was right in between periods, so that wasn t the issue. I have never had this happen before. We also think that the bleeding happened from one specific position, which was not a new position that I had never tried before. It was not rough sex either. What could be the cause of this and does it warrant a trip to the doctor?
