Bleeding During Bowel Movement. Is This Serious?
Hello-over the past couple of days i am passing stool with heavy bleeding .As i am aware that i have piles,this has been happening off an on depending on my food intake.If i take lot of spicy food i triggers bleeding but it stops in a day or two.Recently as my wife was away i had been eating out regularly and this triggered bleeding again but i was shocked to see the quantity of blood being discharged.First it is bright red and watery,a symptom told by my doctor for piles but by the last bowel the color changes to dark red and it is thick.Could this be something serious.I am taking precuations on my food now and also taking cyclo capsules.Thanks

This is serious illness as per your description, although hemorrhoids can cause heavy and chronic bleeding but any other bleeding source also can be found as you noticed dark red and thick blood also.
So you have to go to a surgeon for hemorrhoids diagnosis by Per Rectal and Proctoscopy examination to stop the further loss of any bleeding, moreover should be gone over a diagnostic Colonoscopy to search a any other active source of bleeding.
This chronic and heavy bleeding can cause severe anemia, which itself can cause severe weakness and many other serious symptoms.
So please do not take it lightly, go for proper evaluation and treatment (Blood transfusion may be needed) and surgery may be needed.
