Contact dermatitis is a kind of allergic condition where there is skin irritation and an allergic reaction to external contact irritants like metals, powders, chemicals, etc. Many people commonly develop this in response to metallic objects like watches, bracelets, ear rings, etc. The most effective way of dealing with this problem is to identify the allergy causing material and avoiding it. If there is itching, skin rashes and eruptions, then using an anti-allergy medication will help. Otherwise, once the irritant material is removed, the reaction will subside on its own. Very gradually, the discolouration should also disappear. If the discolouration is very cosmetically unacceptable and you would want a quicker remedy, then there are laser treatments which can remove such discolouration or pigmentation.
