They are nothing but Ephilides which are small, hyperpigmented macules on the sun exposed skin of fair skinned individuals, they can appear anywhere on the body including the scalp
. They occur if there is focal increased melanin
in the skin and tend to darken in summer with increased sun exposure and lighten in the winter. When present in large numbers, they indicate excessive photo damage. They are benign and harmless and treatment is usually not required. Consult a Dermatologist
if you want to and get his opinion because if required Topical bleaching creams or cryotherapy
should help. Do not let him play outside in the sun and when you take him out let him use a cap or umbrella. He should be limiting his scalp and skin exposure to the sun.
