Black Spots On Face, Hands, Legs, Stomach, Some Growing In Size, Itching. Causes For Symptoms?

I developed a black spot on my face about 4 yrs ago. With time, it grew larger. There are several others. One on my hands, one on my legs and about 3 by the side of my stomach . Those ones (side of stomach) sometimes grow bigger, red and start to itch but it subsides with time. The others are rather inactive. I would like to know what it could possibly be.

Hello,

Thanks for posting.

Well I will like to know if by looking on the black spots on your face, stomach, hands and legs, you could tell if they have the same physical characteristics like intensity of color, margins or contours, surface ( rough or smooth) and the same touch. If you could clarify that it would be great. Now, from your description we could come up with several diagnosis depending on your age, race, location of the lesions, use of some drugs/medications, underlying diseases condition etc
We have:
- post inflammatory hyperpigmentation: post acne for example.
- melanoma: skin cancer mostly occurs in caucasians but can affect any other race
- melasma: sun burn lesions
- Riehl's melanosis
- others.
In any case, you will need a doctor to take look at the lesions and give proper diagnosis.
Treatment will depend on the type of lesion and in most cases of dark spots, treatment is not required and only the underlying condition or causative agents need to be controlled.

Hope this helps
