Big Divot In Lower Left Back

I woke up yesterday with a big divot in my lower back. It resembles the two back dimples that we all have. It is just 4 times the size and to the left. It doesn t hurt very much, but I m worried about it. What could be causing it and how do I get rid of it?

Dear patient,

Thanks for the query. Difficult to say without a picture or physical examination, but a soft tissue lesion, such as a lipoma or a hematoma could create a dimple there. My best suggestion would be to have a provider examine the lesion on the back, to determine if it appears bening or needs further workup.

Yours truly,
