hello
i read your problem .it seem gums around your wisdom tooth is
infected .this is called pericoronitis.pus discharge from
that area is the reason for bad taste for mouth.
i would advice you to get it clinically diagnosed by a dentist
and get a dental xray done.
you need to take antibiotics and analgedics for relief.
rinse mouth with warm saline water twice daily.
wisdom tooth is an extra tooth since it is infected i would
advice you to get it extracted .it has no function in chewing
also.

hello and welcome,
is your wisdom tooth erupted properly or it is still within the jaw covering flap?
the symptoms are related to impacted wisdom tooth.
fever, malaise, metallic taste in mouth, throat infection, ear pain are the usual associated symptoms.
visit your dentist and get an x-ray of tooth.
according to that we can decide the treatment.if there is enough space for tooth eruption, then the overlying flap has to be incised and removed.this procedure is known as operculectomy.
if there is not enough space for tooth eruption or if it is horizontally impacted, then it has to be surgically removed.
orange color over the gum is due to infection which is known as pericoronitis.
take warm saline gargle too.
take complete course of antibiotics according to your dentist.
take care.

Dentist Dr. Geoffrey Ward's  Response
Hello and thank you for your question.
Most likely you have an infection called pericoronitis around the tooth. The bad taste you are sensing is bacteria, food debris and exudate. This infection can become quite painful. It would be best to have your wisdom teeth taken out. They are allowing a passage between your mouth to inside your bone putting you at risk for a very painful infection. Best bet is that your taste would go away with the removal of the teeth.

Best wishes and good health.

Hi,
As you are having small pain & bad smell related to your wisdom tooth, it is sign of having infection within it.
This generally happens when wisdom tooth is not fully erupted in oral cavity and is being covered with small pericoronal flap.
If this is so, then accumulation of food debris underneath of the pericoronal flap forms platform for getting infection & once infected, it starts smelling bad due to release of exudate.
Get an X-Ray done to check alignment of your wisdom tooth as final treatment will be depending on the same.
If x-ray shows inclined position of wisdom tooth then your dentist might post you for removal of wisdom tooth which will give you permanent relief from pain and bad smell related with same tooth.
If alignment is not the problem, then only removal of small flap to expose underneath molar tooth along with proper course of Antibiotics & Anti-inflammatory drugs would solve the problem.
You can use Any anti infective mouthwash like betadine mouth gargle to locally control the infection & it will also help to remove debris residing under the flap.
Avoid hot fomentation as that may cause the region to swell.

Take care.

hiii...
All your symptoms suggest that u r suffering from pericoronitis i.e. inflammation around third molar due to food lodgement or poor oral hygiene. You have not mentioned whether ur teeth has completely erupted or not. What all u can do now is start with an analgesic & antibiotic for 5 days & also start using mouthwash once daily for 15 days. You also need to consult nearest available dentist for further investigations & treatment.

Hello,
It seems that the bad taste in your mouth is due to infection related to the wisdom tooth which is called pericronitis. This condition causes pus discharge and is the cause of bad taste.
I would advice you to visit your dentist, get X - ray done and get the tooth removed which will give you permanent releif.
Thank you and take care.

hello and welcome to HCM forum,
i would be glad to answer your query, first of all ,i would like to inform you that bad taste is most probably due to infection, sometimes the gums surrounding the tooth get inflamed due to food impaction and inability to clean that area. whereas in some cases wisdom tooth if not erupted completely or partially impacted, can also cause pain and swelling, therefore i would advise you to see your dentist once , he/she will prescribe you antibiotics for treating the infection.
also, use an antibacterial (betadine) mouth wash(twice/day), and
warm saline rinse(3-4 times/day).
Do not worry, infection will resolve within a week with proper medication.
i hope i answered your query,
i wish you good health,
take care.

Usually food lodgement in wisdom teeth (which is callled as 3rd molar in dental terminology) area will be more & it is very difficult to clean with regular tooth brush or other cleaning modes like mouth wash because of so many reasons, which in turn causes infection in those areas and leading to bad breath, bad taste, its better to have dental consultation for proper diagnosis & correct treatment.

Hi, nightyfrost,
Thanks for query.
It seems that you might have decay wisdom teeth and between teeth and skin a pocket is formed lodging food particle in the pocket giving rise to infection and bad taste.
Do plenty of gargles after taking any thing by mouth.
Consult dentist and get examined.
Ok and bye.
