Back Pain, Pain Under Ribs. Due To Fall?
I have pain in my mid back and right side right under my ribs, similar to a very sore muscle, but is very painful if I press in that area. It started 5 days after I fell and landed on my left side. Could it be from the fall since it didn t start until several days later? It was not a real bad fall and nothing else was injured or sore, but I can t attribute it to anything else.

Hello,
You fell down on the left side of the back and developed pain the mid back and right side right under your ribs after 5 days. When you press that are it is painful - indicates Hematoma - may take 5 days to form and create pain.
What you need is X- Ray ribs, Antibiotic, Anti inflammatory pain killers and local application of pain killing gel, hot water fomentation and rest to that area.
If possible and if necessary MRI of the spines around that injured area may be needed.

Hi,
I think you may be correct. Your ribs and/or cartilage may have been bruised in the fall. It doesn't sound like you have fractured a rib as the pain would most likely have started sooner than 5 days after the fall.
I would suggest paracetamol and ibuprofen for the pain. Rest if you can. The pain may take another few days to subside. If you feel no better in another 4 to 5 days, I would suggest a visit to your doctor to discuss the need for further investigation.
