Baby Having Cough For Days. Using Nebuliser, Taximo, No Much Improvement. Advised Chest X-ray
hi doc, my 9 month old son has cough for about 20 days and our doc has put him on nebuliser(budecort, asthalin and flohail) , taximo ( antibiotic ) and solvin (cough se congestent) for the last 7 days but there is no good imptovement like he coughs many times a day and at night sound is coming from the chest . now doc has asked me to do a chest x ray of baby....what should i do please advice

Hi,
9 months old child with cough since 20 days needs complete evaluation
by pediatrician.
Following investigations should be done to find out the cause.
1. CBP with ESR
2. Chest X ray
Red flag signs are
1.Increase respiration.
2.Retractions.
3.Bluishness/off colour skin mucus membrane.
4.Decrease oral intake.
5.Decrease urine output.
It is very important at this stage to differentiate between Infective etiology
from Allergic one because treatment will differ
Common causes of Cough are
1.Lower respiratory tract infection of bacterial, tubercular or viral origin
2.Hyperreactive airway disease
Wishing early recovery for your child.
