Is there a direct relationship between blood pressure and blood glucose levels? I have taken my BP levels, morning and evening. As a very athletic person, in the past I usually did 35-40 miles a week. (An evening runner) Currently only 25-30, trying to get back there. Days that I ran long 8-10, the next morning the BP would be 130/70 or so. Short day runs, it would climb to 150-160/80-85. The pulse rate would of course be around 45 after long days, and around 36-40 on long. After eating, these high BP numbers would drop to between 118/60 to 135/65. After 3 to 3.5 hours, the numbers would slowly rise some. Eat again, and we start the process over. A few times, I have awakened in the middle of the night, and check things out, and find the numbers continue to climb, and hit a peak around 4 AM. The Doctor only knows right now of the morning and evening numbers, the "Range." The stability of the BP through the day, to me, is the more representative factor, than peaks or depths. I have one person in the family history, father, who smoked, drank, didn't exercise, was under high stress, and was 48 when with the first and only Myocardio Infarction. It was mild, and was in the hospital for only a couple of days. He dropped all the bad behavior, walked 3 miles a day, and lived for 16 more years, with no problems again. He died from inactivity because of "Shingles." Most of the other relatives lived to the mid 80's. What I am most concerned about, is, the Doctor recommending a pill treatment that would drop the daily numbers from the 120/60 to numbers like . .90/45. Because of inactivity, shingles, father's BP increased. The pills he took basically had him pass out. I don't want to be given pills to drop a 120/60 daily number down to . . .I pass out. Long ago, my White coat syndrum issue was treated with some BP pill, that had me nauseated, and diarretic most of the day.
Tests will be taken in December, to check much of this. I suspect the pressure I get from a most unique situation will abate around the Christmas season .. Is there anything I should know or do?
