Ayurvedic treatment for asthma

Hi, my son is 5 years old. He was on L-montus kid for 10 months in 2010 and when it was discontinued, he suffered from asthma attack. We did an allergy test for him and found out that he is strongly allergic to dust. The dr started L montus kid again for him along with foracort inhaler . Inspite of giving that, he gets cough almost every month and ends up taking antibiotic for the same. Am surprised that he still has to take so much of antibiotic inspite of being on 2 antiallergics!!!! I am really not in favour of him taking so many medicines and want to shift him to ayurvedic medicine. I have heard that there are good remidies for ashthmatic bronchitis in ayurveda . can you please advice.

Yes you are right.Ayurveda surely work for your child. The shwasa(allergic asthma) is due to dust as per your observation. In most of the cases this is related with the mother's milk! What we say shkir-dosha in ayurveda. Also it may be related with wrong food habit, worms, habit of eating soil etc.One has to think over all these causes.
Remedy=1)application of warm coconut oil + til oil with some rock salt (saindhav) on chest at night
2)mung dal preferable,aviod fast food
3)swasakuthar rasa 2tablets in early morning & after dinner at night with 2 spoons of
agastiharitaki rasayan is very perfect medicine.Continue for 3 months, your child will live healthy life ahead.

Ayurveda Specialist Dr. Rajesh Lakhanpaul's  Response
Dear Rane
In ayurveda we prefer to ioncrease the immunity of the person so that such allergens fail to create allergic reaction in body. Basically this is due to vitiated kaph which upsets vaat in body. Instead of just depending on bronkodilators we prefer to liquify the phlegam and expell it from body so that airway becomes patent. The inflammatory and spasmodic conditions of bronchioles is also taken in consideration and cured with suitable herbs. Haridra [ turmeric ] is a herb that sets vitiated kaph back to normalacy.Swamla is the compound that is used to increase immunity in such cases and Bresol is the drug that makes the airways patent and relieves spasm and expels phlegam out of body. There are drugs like swash kuthar ras which can be administered under guidance oflocal ayurvedic doctor.
