Are Veterinary Chlorpheniramine Maleate Tablets Advisable For Human Use?

Absolutely! And thanks. I have been checking out ordering 1000 tabs of 4 mg Chlorpheniramine maleate. This is my preferred drug for prophylactic seasonal allergic reaction. It appears to be unavailable on line. However, I see that some vet/ pet med companies have 4 mg tabs of the Chlorpheniramine Maleate. My question, according to the USP, generic medications must be exact same drug wise, the inert ingredients are not specific. How would a Pet Med company s product differ from the standard brand name Chlortrimeton? If the mg dose is the same... Is there a big difference? And, how? And how would it effect human use?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Both are different formulation and designed for different purposes. You can not substitute veterinary pills for human use.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family physician
