Are there any home remedies for Keratosis Pilaris ?

I m a 17-year-old female. I have keratosis pilaris on my arms, my inner thighs, and a bit on my calves and my bum. I exfoliated it every day and I put lotion on. But I don t know what else to do to reduce it s appearance. They annoy me so much that I end up picking at them, which in turn only makes it worse. Are there any home remedies? I ve heard using a dandruff shampoo like Head and Shoulders like a body wash works?

The best way to treat KP is moist the skin with either moisturing lotions , baby oil or Olive oil and Almond oil is onwe of the best options ,, In Ayurveda , we consider it a Vata Dosha. So Internal Snehan ( Oil Therapies Internally ) under qualified doctor may give good results..

Take care

hi
There is no available cure, miracle pill, or universally effective treatment for KP. It sometimes clears completely by itself without treatment.

Wash area with Glysal cleanser once a day.
Pat skin dry.
Apply Salex or AmLactin lotion in morning.
Apply tazarotene (Tazorac) or tretinoin (Retin-A) cream every other night.
Get a monthly microdermabrasion and glycolic treatment with physician.

My 15 yr old son has a severe case of Keratosis Pilaris on his neck and chest. I have never seen it this bad. I have tried everything over the counter. His Pediatrician doesn t feel he needs to refer him to a dermatologist. Is there something else over the counter that may help?

My 3 year old son had some routine blood work done after suspecting an infection. Everything was normal except one white cell count was elevated and doc said that one is usually associated with allergies. He did a basic allergen profile blood test which showed a low allergy to dairy and an undetermined allergy to wheat and eggwhites. Doc said to try an elimination diet for a few weeks (including eliminating all gluten) then try to reintoduce foods and watch for symptoms. The problem is, I didn t notice much in the way of symptoms in the first place other than having a runny nose all the time and a rash which doc said was keratosis pilaris. He also had patches of dry skin on his buttocks. I started the elimination diet and the runny nose and dry patch of skin is gone but he still has the rash. I want to see an allergist for further testing but doc said it is not necessary. What do you think?

Sir,I am 39 yrs male and have two children aged 10 yrs female and 03 yrs male child. Female child is fit and fine by the grace of great almighty. Male child is suffering from severe skin decease. He is a harlequin baby. His skin is scaly and cracks regularly. However the pores of his nose have been opened and sweat drops are visible on the nose at the high temperature but skin of the entire body other than nose gets reddish then turns to yellow then cracks. His eyes, ears and other parts of the body have become normal but sweating glands are blocked so far. Resultant, the layer of entire skin is getting removed at the interval of six hours. As and when skin gets cracked, it gives a deep cut on particular spot which exposes the flesh behind the skin. His growth is normal and satisfactory and he is otherwise very active, talented, sharp minded, enthusiastic and perfect in all respect but this problem has kept doctors in chaotic state to give certainty of his future. However they are expecting six years to bring the child up to their assurance level. Whatever care advised is being provided at every level. He is kept in air-conditioned and sterilized room, his movements are restricted for infection prone zone and regular massage is being done to keep his skin soft. He is rare of the rarest in entire world and his survival is just a miracle. Your advise in this regard is required.

I have a case where 3 children all died in the same family. Ages 2.5yrs, 5yrs and 7yrs. All were sudden and occured in 1952, 1960, and 1961. I believe these children suffered from Romano-Ward Syndrome. I also believe that the 5yr old may have had Timothy Syndrome. Bilateral webbed hands and feet and other issues that match this condition. I know that Romano-Ward Syndrome is genetic and Timothy Syndrome is a gene mutation. Wondering what would be the odds that all of these children in one family would suffer from these defects? I know there is a 50% chance to be affected if a parent is a carrier.
