Are The Ultrasound Findings Of Ovarian Cyst And Multiple Fibroids Is Indicative Of Something?

41 yrs old and transvaginal ultrasound revealed an inhomogeneous thickened endometrial stripe of 18mm, 2.8 cm right ovarian cyst occlusion with septations, multiple fibroid and free fluid in the cul-de-sac. I have menstrual cycles every 28 days although heavy and 7 days long. Diagnosed with iron - deficient anemia requiring ferritin infusions 5 months ago. Attempted to conceive naturally for 2 years without success. Are the u/s findings indicative of something else?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
I am Dr Nilajkumar a consultant gynecologist and I will be helping you in your queries.
It seems that you have a slight hormonal imbalance considering the findings. The ovarian cyst is small, but they may alter the hormonal environment and delay conception. They may also affect ovulation and hence lead to infertility. Also fibroids may affect fertility if they are big and located near the tube openings, or cervix. So it will help if this information is provided.

As of now, just get your anemia corrected and visit a infertility specialist with all your reports. She will be able to guide you if the fibroids are big enough to be treated [ most do not require any treatment].
A course of progesterone may also be used to help control the cyst. Then an ovulation study will be done and future course of treatment decided to help you conceive.
So do not worry. Just get investigated properly and start treatment and you will conceive.
Best of luck.
Hope this was helpful.
Feel free to ask any further queries and I will be happy to help.
Thanks for using HCM.
Have a good day.
